Target audiences
The target audience for 'Friends' is generally versatile. It has a very wide target audience, pretty much all ages above 14 years old, male and female watch 'Friends'. The young adults and teenagers watch it as they find characters like 'Joey' and 'Chandler' who are seen as the 'jokers of the pack' to be humorous and just generally find what they say and there actions to be funny which makes them want to watch them. They talk about episodes with there friends at school or college and memorable bits of them.
The adults may want to be like some of the characters in some ways. For example, Chandler being successful and rich. They might aspire to be like 'Chandler' in the sense that he has a successful career.
Female audiences might want to be like characters such as 'Rachel' as she is portrayed in a sexy, attractive way, through out the series and goes out with many attractive males.
Male Audiences might want to be like 'Joey' who's seen as the 'Hunk' of the series who has many sexual partners throughout the series.
Advertising
'Friends' is sponsored by 'Zugos microwave panini'. I think that 'Zugos' sponsors 'Friends' as it mainly targets audiences from 18-35 years of age. Some of which may not no how or have the time to cook meals that take time to prepare and cook, being busy with work etc, therefore they like the idea of microwaveable food as its fast and simple to make and takes only a few minutes to cook.
The Euro millions jackpot advert was shown during the break. As majority of viewers are above 18 and working class, they pay want to participate in this jackpot as they would see it as a life changing opportunity for them to became a millionaire.
There was also an advert for 'Body form Tampons'. As a large number of viewers are female this advert would be successful as a lot of female viewers will see it and maybe buy this product.
Another advert was of the Asda winter toy sale.
This would be an affective advert as some of the viewers would be working class adults
who would be looking to buy Christmas presents for there children, cousins or younger siblings and Asda offers them what they want for less.

Avatar- A left wing Film?
Film:Avatar
Director: James Cameron
Release: 12/18/2009
Genre: Action/Adventure
Plot:When his brother is killed in a robbery, paraplegic Marine Jake Sully decides to take his place in a mission on the distant world of Pandora. There he learns of greedy corporate figurehead Parker Selfridge's intentions of driving off the native humanoid "Na'vi" in order to mine for the precious material scattered throughout their rich woodland. In exchange for the spinal surgery that will fix his legs, Jake gathers Intel for the cooperating military unit spearheaded by gung-ho Colonel Quaritch, while simultaneously attempting to infiltrate the Na'vi people with the use of an "avatar" identity. While Jake begins to bond with the native tribe and quickly falls in love with the beautiful alien Neytiri, the restless Colonel moves forward with his ruthless extermination tactics, forcing the soldier to take a stand - and fight back in an epic battle for the fate of Pandora.
Ideology
At first Avatar came across as a film that believes in right wing ideology as the marines were in control, giving orders, going to a different planets and fighting the 'evil', 'savage', aliens for there precious resources and land! This is the part of the film we support the military and think 'yeah show em who's boss!' As we don't yet know who these aliens are.
However as the film moves on we see that the Aliens known as the 'Na'vi' are actually really nice peaceful race and just want to be left alone in there own world to do whatever they do, they live simple lives and are at one with nature, kind of how the Red Indians used to live before America was colonized by Britain, the only difference being they live in a more fantastical environment and are 10ft tall and Blue!
This is were we begin to notice that Avatar believes in a Left wing Ideology, as the Americans begin to be seen as the 'bad guys'. The marines use violence and force to make the 'Na'vi' people leave there homes simply by destroying there homes and everything dare to them, not caring about who dies in the process as long as the job gets done. This is also similar to how Red Indians were killed and there land stripped away from them during the colonization of America, all for land and resources.'Jake Sulley' the main character in the film is first on the marines side but when he realizes that its wrong to kill these people he switches side and decides to fight for freedom rather then money. He disobeys his superiors and escapes from the marine facility to join the 'Na'vi' in there fight for freedom and survival. This is left wing as 'Jake' does what is the morally right thing to do even if it meant going against his own people. Of course he doesn't believe that hes part of the human race anymore but more 'Na'vi' as he fell in love with there amazing way of life.
